Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
The State of Minnesota - Department of Human Services (DHS) established
certification criteria and a process of application for DBT programs to
comply with in order to provide DBT to those individuals that have
Medical Assistance, Minnesota Care, or a PMAP. Choices Psychotherapy has
achieved this certification. Dialectical Behavior Training (DBT) was developed by Marsha Linehan, Ph.D. DBT focuses on balancing logic with feelings to improve coping skills and reduce ineffective behavior. The general goals of DBT include improving relationships, decreasing anxiety and misery, and enhancing the quality of life or “build a life worth living”. DBT helps individuals find effective ways to manage problems and is a combination of individual and group therapy. Jennifer Vlach, LICSW, Amber Isham, LMFT & Worawan C.
